My updated version of the game (just about 40 changes) works well on my 780ti at 1440p. The frame rate stays near 900mhz when usage is at half, keeping FPS steady around 60. In certain areas like cities, the CPU gets pushed hard and FPS drops to 20-30. I thought I had room for any graphics card, since only a small portion of the GPU was active. But that didn’t happen—even with the ENB I’ve used, none reach smooth 60 fps. I’ve tried Realvision, Project ENB, and Natural Lighting for ENB, all giving about 40fps with occasional slowdowns. They give the desired visuals but show a noticeable drop in performance. On the Realvision page, they suggest 970 for full graphics mode, yet I don’t hit 60 fps with the performance setting. The GPU is fine, hitting the right boost clock of 1270mhz and the CPU at 4.1ghz. My concern is whether I’m doing something wrong or if ENB is inherently demanding. What could I do to boost performance further?

Many games show ENB significantly boosting CPU performance compared to GPU in some titles. This trend is likely due to the ENB mod from Driver San Francisco, which appears to be tailored for RE4 and similar games.

ENBs consistently lead to significant frame rate reductions, affecting all performance settings.

It puts a strain on my 970 rig... achieving 20fps on thick grass while using heavy ENB and 80 mods kept CPU load minimal.

The CPU isn't the problem right now; my GPU is consistently at 90% or higher during the game, making it the main constraint. The game seems to run on just one core, causing delays in city areas, while elsewhere the GPU is the limiting factor.

I play modded Skyrim for stability testing, which is quite demanding.

It seems the suggested settings on the ENB page are meant for 1080p. Because 1440p is almost twice as many pixels, I think I’ll need to adjust accordingly...

On Windows 10, be aware that sweetfx may not work well. Take the sweetfx DLL out of the ENB, which should boost performance noticeably. If that doesn’t help, turn off ambient occlusion and depth of field in the ENB settings as the next adjustments.
