I'm looking to upgrade my PC components for gaming on an APU and want the maximum performance possible. I recall a patch of Windows that caused some issues by slowing things down, and I'm unsure if it's been fixed in recent updates. Could you help me find the best Windows 10 patch for gaming? Thanks!

the top choice is a tailored version! a stripped-down custom build exists—lowspecgamer has some clips on the topic, take a look

Focus on removing unnecessary software from the start menu and switch to performance settings or run a dedicated cleanup tool. Gains might be modest, around 2 fps or less, but it saves time searching through every option.

The latest versions with some issues are pretty risky. It's hard to say what might be inside, so they could pose a security threat. Many also lack regular updates, which is another problem for stability. It's best to use a debloater or fix it yourself. Performance will likely drop noticeably, maybe just a few percent. You shouldn't expect a game that works perfectly without any problems.

I tried to boost the numbers but the comments suggest it’s not worth it. Appreciate your time!

It's really pointless to try this before the standard version. You could also use a debloater just to boost performance a bit—you'll notice the difference. Windows keeps pushing for a frustrating gaming experience out of the box...
