I've worked with Virtual Box for years before moving to VMware Workstation Player (free). Although I appreciated Virtual Box for its community feel and adaptability, I now prefer VMware's options for better performance and broader compatibility. At work I'm familiar with VMware products like ESXi and vSphere, but I don't have any bias toward one over the other.
I run VirtualBox at home while our company uses VMWare Workstation. You can easily find the necessary keys online, though I’m not sure if it’s appropriate to share those details. At home, VirtualBox is free, small, fast, and works well with drivers and hardware, whereas in the workplace it’s big, more expensive, and performs better with proper configurations.
Since I first tried it, VMware has always been my top choice for managing virtual machines. Integrating a virtual machine into my host operating system with Unity is also very convenient.
