Hello, I just assembled my first PC in about ten years. Everything went smoothly and it functions perfectly except for one issue. The top M2 slot operates at half speed or double speed. My drive should read around 3.5GB/s but I only get about 1.7GB/s. According to HWiNFO or CrystalDiskInfo, it's showing Gen 3 x2 and lists x4 as the maximum capacity. I've tested using it in a different slot via the chipset and it works fine there. No BIOS settings seem to affect this, everything is set to default. Anyone else faced this problem and found a solution? My build specs: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 MSI Meg X570 Unify Sabrent 1TB NVMe (Gen 3 x4). I have the newest BIOS on my motherboard and no other drives installed except the NVMe. I also tried updating an older BIOS version, but it didn't help.
I took out the drive and used a flashlight to look, but didn’t find any clear damage signs.
But x570 provided multiple options for motherboard builders where the CPU interface used NVMe not X4 but X2. The details are shown in the x570 schematic. Usually they present the choice of one X4 NVMe or two X2 NVMe, or a combination with another component.
Under the detailed specifications, it is confirmed that the system supports up to PCIe 4.0 x4 for the initial M2 expansion slot.
