Hello everyone! I've been looking at my control panel settings lately, and am trying to figure out how to use them to get optimal gaming results. I've heard conflicting advice on what to choose for which settings, or whether to change them at all, and was hoping you all could set me straight I got curious about this, because I've switched from playing on an Xbox one to a PC, and although my resolution is slightly higher, the Xbox one can put up very high frame rates with literally zero tearing on games like Forza Horizon 4, and from everything I've read a GTX 1650 D6 is better than the "gpu" the original Xbox one has. Are you experiencing any issues? Your screen supports VRR? If yes, ensure GSSYNC is active. In the game, cap frames below your monitor’s limit and turn off VSync. If FPS remains low, check the display settings and actual frame rate. Different Xbox models vary in performance—even a single model can reach up to 60fps, while PC versions often shine better. As I see it on eBay, you could sell your GTX 1650 for around $150 and purchase a used RX 6600 for $150, effectively doubling your frame rate and even attempt ray tracing (though very slowly).
The 1650 comes from Dell motherboard constraints. The monitor is a standard PNP Dell model, so VRR is unlikely. There are no major tearing issues except during Crisis. I was curious about improving gaming with panel tweaks and image upscaling. Regarding framerate, the refresh rate is 60Hz, but that’s different from actual frame rate.
That's correct, 60Hz refreshes 60 times each second. I've noticed a 65W processor and a 6600 running on a 300W power supply. If you lack a PCIe power cable from your PSU, consider this: a VRR gaming display for Christmas can significantly improve performance.
Considering a VR display sounds like a solid choice, I’ll explore it further. The connector isn’t compatible since the PSU lacks spare wires and it only supports 275W. Regarding refresh rates, having more than 60 FPS doesn’t necessarily add value if the refresh rate is too low.

If it has a spare DVI port that isn’t in use, you can detach it and connect its power cable to your GPU. A CPU paired with a 6600 would only consume around 200 watts, freeing up 75 watts for other devices—more than enough. This setup is essentially 58 watts more than your 1650, while your DVD drive draws 20–30 watts when active. You won’t overload your power supply, and even if it fails, you’re unlikely to damage it.
