I'm back into PC gaming after a ~10 year break and need help understanding the different technologies & platforms available now. I just built a new gaming rig for myself but would also like to get my wife set up to dabble with games, short of building another new PC. Want to be able to play multiplayer/co-op/online games together, and she'd be most comfortable on the couch with a controller. I do already have a second PC, a Linux box with a Ryzen 3 2200g which might be able to run some older games and besides that I have some hesitations about gaming on Linux (maybe unwarranted in 2020). Here's my understanding of the options and the assumptions that go with them: Steam on both PCs and a Steam Link at the TV: would send the Linux Steam game to the Link, while still using the local Ryzen hardware. Besides the games on wife's new Steam account, would need to buy a Steam Link + Steam controller (~$140 used) GeForce Now: would buy games on wife's Steam account then $5/month to stream them to either: Nvidia ShieldTV, ~$150 with controller local Linux box, and then to a Steam Link? this might not be possible, in which case possibly a 15' HDMI cable to the TV GeForce Now can't stream to Linux Stadia: would need one Stadia kit (controller + Chromecast Ultra, I have access to both for free if I want it) for TV play; we'd each need an account and each need to buy all games new, however there's not much available yet. Who else has experience or advice with this stuff? Any other options to consider? Many thanks in advance !!
