For Cat5e you can achieve speeds of up to 2.5Gbps over 100 meters. With Cat6 you reach up to 5Gbps within the same range. Beyond 100 meters the signal weakens significantly and performance drops. The official guidelines cap cable length at 100 meters. I’ll note that Cat6 supports 10Gbps at shorter distances—perhaps around 33 meters—but I’m not sure.
