Hi everyone, welcome! I'm just starting out with this OC process. The card from Gigabyte claims a maximum boost clock of 1797 MHz in OC mode. But when I run Gigabyte Game Xtreme Engine and Afterburner, it shows a clock speed of 1898 MHz right away without any changes. According to Uni Heaven benchmarks, it should be 1898 MHz out of the box. Is this typical? Could my software settings not be detecting it properly? Also, I can't get the card into OC mode myself—Xtreme Engine doesn't support it, and in Afterburner I set the GPU power limit to 108% but still see the same speed.

The increase in clock speed comes from an automatic overclock thanks to GPU BOOST 3.0 (https://www.anandtech.com/show/10325/the...-review/15).
The frequency changes based on the available thermal headroom, meaning it drops as things get hotter.
Those stock frequencies are listed in the card's BIOS by the maker.
You can only adjust them using software such as afterburner—gradually move the core slider to change the frequency.
But don't expect a steady rate; GPU BOOST 3.0 remains active.
