Optimal approach for this? (RAM)
Optimal approach for this? (RAM)
Consider your options carefully. Using two 8GB sticks together gives you 16GB, which is sufficient for most tasks. Adding the mismatched stick would bring you to 24GB, but it might not be worth it unless you need extra capacity. Given the quality of the RAM (Mougul brand, Micron chips) and the performance issues you're facing, a matched pair at 16GB should work better and is more reliable.
It really varies, check all RAM options and see if it starts up. I'm using a M720t board with aftermarket components like CPU cooler, case, GPU, and power supply. The issue I faced was with the RAM—changing it didn’t work, it would stop beeping and not boot. When I installed the RAM (three sticks of DDR4 2x8 1x16), it worked fine.
