Opinion on sharing in the Steam Family Library and viewing content together with family members
I understand, it appears Valve creates a really challenging or even unachievable experience compared to other options. Ironically, PC isn’t the most creative platform, just the strongest one... but from Valve’s perspective, there seems to be no motivation to become more modern or open. In my previous discussions I mentioned this clearly, it’s probably one of the most resistant to consumer needs, possibly only matched by a few competitors like EA or Epic. Although none of the major companies are perfect, regardless of the platform. The person who wrote this doesn’t seem to grasp the situation, as in my car analogy you often can’t share things at once—that’s just a minor aspect of sharing. So I offered a more fitting explanation, highlighting the link between sharing and division... To make it even more complex, you can split everything, but not all divisions are actually useful (see car example). I’m not trying to be overly critical, just noting that the “Cambridge” definition doesn’t really fit, and also wishing I could lose any respect I might have for them. That shouldn’t happen when pretending to be an authority. Also, the linked site violates most GDPR rules, which is another reason not to take it seriously honestly. (I can’t opt out of cookies)
