For gaming, consider Windows 11 as it offers better performance and features. If you prefer stability, Windows 10 still works well but may lack some modern optimizations. Always check reviews and test before deciding.
Gaming only – 8.1 offers the top performance. Windows 10 isn’t fully ready yet, and Win 7 provides decent visuals but lacks speed. EDIT: I’m avoiding all the surveillance aspects; I’ve grown tired of hearing about them and intend to switch to Linux for a cleaner experience.
Current version of Windows 8.1 offers solid performance without compatibility problems compared to Windows 10. Upgrading to Windows 10 will be available at no cost later.
I'm using Windows 10 and have been able to play many games without any issues. The interface is smooth and clean, and I don't mind the privacy features since I haven't found anything concerning. I'm not engaging in anything illegal, and if it's just usage tracking, I'm okay with it. Additionally, Windows 10 supports DX12 which is impressive.
Absolutely accurate, though if you're focused on gaming, you probably won't even notice the "unbearable" part. I don't recall the last time I used the Win8 Start Menu like that, except when looking for an application.
