Hi! I just set up a new PC and encountered some issues with the CPU. Rig: CPU – Ryzen 5 3600 (no overclocking), Cooler – Stock Motherboard – Asus PRIME A320M-A (latest BIOS updated), Case – Corsair carbide spec, 120mm fans in the back near the CPU. PSU – Corsair CX650 GFX – GIGABYTE RTX 2060 OC 6GB (no overclocking), RAM – G.SKILL L8G B x 2 (operating at 2400 MHz), Ambient temps 22-25°C, idle 47-50°C. When playing games with MSI Afterburner, CPU temperature rises to 87-95°C after 5-10 minutes. Things I've tried: tightening cooler screws, leaving case open, removing cooler to check paste, no improvement.
It seems the cooler isn't performing well enough under load, making it hard to transfer heat efficiently. The best fix would be replacing it with a new one. In the meantime, you can boost performance by setting your system fans to maximum in BIOS settings and adjusting the fan curve—this will help until a better cooler is available.
I discovered the fix! I played while the case was open and the CPU reached its highest temperature. I figured the issue was poor ventilation, so I upgraded the fans and resolved the problem!
