Title, this laptop only starts when the GTX 1650 is turned off in Device Manager. Switching it back causes overheating and freezing. After a few minutes it locks up completely, showing no BSOD but a KMODE EXCEPTION. Shutting it down permanently works, and after restarting it doesn’t show anything. To access Windows now I have to use recovery, enter safe mode, and disable the GPU. It’s been more than a month since this happened. I’ve tried reinstalling Windows, using Linux Mint, cleaning the drive, resetting BIOS, flashing new BIOS, testing different SSDs, using only one RAM stick, cleaning the board, replacing thermal paste, and even putting pressure on the GPU die. Nothing fixed it. I haven’t noticed anything strange on the board yet, so I’m not sure if the GPU is dead. Checking the specs in gpuz shows what I see. Any advice on next steps? Have others solved this problem? Thanks.

Consider disabling Fast Startup and updating the drivers. These are the most frequent issues leading to your problem.

Checked both recent and older versions on the drivers page, but the outcome remains the same.

Discovered another discussion on the NVIDIA forum regarding a laptop GPU not working in Linux. I found the command dmesg which appears to show some issues with the GPU. It’s challenging to understand much of this since I’m new to programming and Linux, so I’d really appreciate help clarifying the problems and suggesting additional steps to diagnose the issue. The full terminal output is attached for reference. Thanks!
