So I've loved my new build, it works great and is easily the most computer I've probably ever used, but there's one weird issue... It will not wake when I interact with my keyboard or mouse. My past experiences say this should work, and the rgb on my kb&m turns on when I interact with either of them, but the pc refuses to wake from sleep mode. Is this a Windows setting that's just been on by default in my past pc's or is this some weird quirk with built pc's? System works perfectly otherwise. What speed are you using for memory? This can sometimes cause stability problems. Also, what version of your BIOS do you have? You might want to disable overclocking and check if turning it off resolves the issue. As mentioned before, you can also test with DOCP disabled in BIOS.
I kept the same issue for a long time. The change I made was enabling USB wake options in the BIOS (the exact name might vary depending on your system) and turning it on. That way I can wake up using my mouse, although it doesn’t work with the keyboard because of the wireless setup (mouse also works now).
Ram speed affects how quickly your system responds, which can influence the performance of USB devices when you wake up. Faster RAM helps the computer handle tasks more smoothly.
This was one of several problems I encountered with my 5900X setup; the issue turned out to be RAM that didn't meet the QVL for the board. I swapped it in with a kit from the board's recommended list (I had to adjust timings manually since DOCP was being unreliable) and everything worked fine. You should verify your board manufacturer's RAM QVL for your specific CPU if you have one, as this could affect performance. Even if it isn't listed, it might still function but could be less stable. All settings and OC parameters are set using the factory default mode. No CPU overclocking is enabled; XMP isn’t active (RAM runs at 2133 but rated for 3200); I’m not sure what DocP refers to, but it probably isn’t relevant. The BIOS is running the latest stable version for this board—7c91vaa. I’ll check that later when I power down. I’m not sure about the stability outside of this, though—I think I might have missed something in the BIOS as mentioned by Stormseeker.
DOCP is AMD's XMP profile, but that should be fine. Perhaps reset the CMOS by disconnecting the power supply for five minutes, then reconnect and power on. If this doesn't resolve the issue, consider flashing the BIOS again.
I didn't assume my RAM was the problem either, and even after thinking about it, many advised me it wasn't. It took me five months to figure it out. However, when it affects another machine, it doesn't match for either of them, and swapping it resolves the issue, revealing the real cause.
I hadn't considered this until I purchased the kit and was concerned about posting issues, especially since DDR4 is costly. I'm relieved it functioned properly otherwise. I'd prefer to keep using it if waking up from sleep isn't my main problem, as my 1050 needs retirement soon and that will be a much larger financial burden.
