Only the standard Windows Nvidia drivers are compatible.
I had no prior experience setting up Windows on this device. The Nvidia drivers on Arch Linux functioned well without any issues. However, when I installed Windows 10 on a second SSD and attempted to install the Nvidia drivers, I encountered a black screen. After force shutting down the machine, the Windows logo appeared, but when it was time for the lock screen, nothing displayed—just a black screen. I've tried several approaches: using DDU for a clean driver install, updating GPU BIOS and motherboard BIOS, switching between older and newer drivers, and even removing some RAM to check for causes. NVCleanInstall helped too. The only working drivers were the default ones that came with Windows, which are quite outdated. The game I wanted to run, Deathloop, needed a minimum version of 471.96. I’m running out of ideas on what to try next. I suspect hardware problems aren’t the issue since it worked on Linux. My system specs: ASUS ROG G751JT GPU, 8GB RAM (1x 8GB, 2x 4GB, 1x 2GB), OS: Windows 10.
It occurs during setup and cannot be fixed. This model lacks an iGPU. Previous attempts were unsuccessful. The process may cause a black screen when installing via the Microsoft Basic Adapter and the standard NVIDIA driver. Updated June 27, 2022 by Linux123123
I added remote access tools to check the driver issue. After updating drivers, I used the tool and saw error 43 on the display adapter (GTX970M). I turned it off and back on, then everything worked again. The problem only appears after each restart, which is frustrating. Since this is my secondary OS (Arch for Windows), I’m okay with it for gaming.
