Only the PC activates when the PSU switch is engaged.
before i began my day at work today, my computer functioned normally. when i arrived home i powered it on using the case’s power button and the gpu light activated, causing fans to spin. however, my usbs remained inactive with no display on the monitors. the power-on and reset switch on the case didn’t work, and my system automatically restarts whenever the psu is activated. i’ve tried several fixes so far—removing and reinserting the cmos battery, disconnecting the front panel reset and power button, using just a single dp cable, and connecting only the cpu and gpu—but nothing has resolved the issue.
Short or worn power switch possibly. If you press and hold one after it turns on, it will shut down completely, which suggests a possible issue with the power switch sending an unstable signal to the front panel header. This is why I let mine rest and avoid frequent OS shutdowns or restarts. Edited September 24, 2022 by An0maly_76 Updated, more info
It would have been convenient to shorten the explanation. I uncovered that a cleaning solution fell on my desk and might have dripped onto my PC. I’ll give it a shot.
Based on my observations, here are three possible issues:
1. Motherboard problems—had the same issue with a brand-new motherboard.
2. Faulty RAM—consider swapping in another stick or using just one if you have two.
3. Dead GPU—check if integrated graphics work by connecting directly.
I’ve eliminated the possibility of RAM being the problem. It seems more likely a motherboard or PSU is the cause, as it powers up when the power switch is on. The USB ports aren’t functioning either.
You're facing the same problem. Checking if your GPU is properly connected helps. If it's plugged in but nothing works, try unplugging it to see if the USB devices (mouse, keyboard, headset) turn on.
