Only reaching 3.5ghz performance
I upgraded my motherboard to a Z390 Aorus ultra and planned a fresh Windows install. After reinstalling everything, I realized my i9 9900K only reaches 3.5GHz instead of the expected 3.6GHz. This issue happens during gaming too. Could anyone assist me? I’m not very tech-savvy.
It's great that things are now simpler. Just install the file and start the BIOS. You should find a setting to upload it. Most recent boards even let you check local storage for the file. I haven't tried this on a gigabyte board recently—last time I needed a flash tool and a DOS boot disk. Could be a mistake. EDIT: For more steps, refer to your motherboard's manual.
The Intel tools were set up prior to your new operating system and then removed afterward.
No changes in my manual about updating it, and I’m still confused. I’ve never heard of Intel utilities before. It seems like the BIOS is fine, showing 4801MHz, but I haven’t updated the task manager or hardware monitor. After updating the BIOS, it still doesn’t reach over 3500MHz or 3.5GHz. Is there a hidden setting on the PC that might be blocking higher frequencies?
I also performed a fresh Windows installation, yet everything feels identical, which is confusing.
