I got a new MOBO from Amazon today – the B450 Aorus Elite. After assembling my PC, I realized it wouldn’t boot and the DRAM LED lit up. Removing a RAM stick fixed it. I entered BIOS, enabled XMP, powered down, and installed the second module in hopes of resolving the issue. That didn’t help. Now I’m using 8GB RAM at half speed, and I’ve tried clearing CMOS, testing different slots, and checking individual sticks, but nothing works. Any suggestions?
I'll attempt each slot once more. If the CPU has a defective memory controller, are there any steps I can take? I just purchased it this summer and would need to invest a significant amount for a replacement.
I tested them out. The first two on the left function, while the others don't. I own both sets together without any issues. If the problem is with the CPU, how could it have been damaged? It looks brand new and has never been dropped or mishandled. Could the motherboard be the issue? I just purchased it a few days ago.
WOW amazon is the best. I got a replacement for a Ryzen 7 3700X that I bought in May at no extra cost. She did ask me to add a card to my amazon account which I did which was a bit worrying. I looked at my orders in Amazon and it shows the processor already on its way in 2-4 days and says it was bought for $0.00. I asked if I had to return my faulty CPU but she said it was unnecessary. I am a bit worried though since she did say I didn't have to return the faulty CPU but on my orders tab it shows that next to my old CPU it says replacement ordered and also says view return label and instructions. Once I clicked on it, it gives me instructions on how to return it and also says that All items must be sent by Nov 16, 2020 . Im probably going to return it even though she said I didn't have to, I have a feeling that they will charge me for it with the card I put in my account.
