I own an evga z490 kingpin edition paired with an i9 10900k. I’m facing problems with my USB ports—only one of the back USB ports functions, while the others are non-functional and the case ports don’t work either. I suspect it’s not a driver issue, but I’m unsure because even in the BIOS only one USB port is active on the motherboard. I’ve reset the BIOS to “optimal default settings,” changed the CMOS without trying, and switched between different BIOS profiles, but all USB ports remain enabled. The legacy USB port mode is also active. Please help.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer! Could you share the BIOS version of your motherboard? Have you manually installed the chipset or USB drivers? If there were issues with drivers, they shouldn’t affect the BIOS. Which devices are you attempting to connect?
I believe updating the chipset drivers didn’t help. I’ve tested a Logitech mouse, two keyboards, an ASUS one whose name I don’t recall, and a Razor Huntman keyboard.
Is there a new build available?
Check for possible reasons.
The ground finger of the back I/O plate is stuck in one of the sockets.
Inspect the motherboard near the plugs. Are there any caps that are swollen, not flat, leaking, or discolored?
