The performance jumps from 1.1 to 3.0 as expected, just like I mentioned—I had to switch the motherboard into PCI-E 3.0 mode rather than sticking with Auto or Gen 4 settings. I think if it was functioning properly and the test passed, it would reach 4.0.
This update shows the 6600xt was also operating in 3.0 mode. I initially thought the issue might be the motherboard, but MSI suggested it could be the PCI-E controller on the CPU. It seems unusual for the PCI-E controller to only work in 3.0 while being functional in 4.0. My belief leans toward the motherboard, though they claim it's out of warranty. I’m not sure what to do next. I also have a 5950x that I can test tonight to check if the problem is with the CPU.
I fixed it by using the 5950x. The issue disappeared after installation. I thought replacing my 5800x would be necessary, but once it was back in place, everything worked again. Seems like just re-seating the CPU solved it. Computers are pretty cool!
