Only allowing the volume to reach 120Hz

Hi, I'm trying to set my MSI G24C6P 24" monitor to display 144Hz via HDMI, but it only goes up to 120Hz. I've checked all the Windows and monitor settings, but nothing changes beyond that. I think I have a HDMI 2.0 port and use the included cable. Anyone have a tip? Thanks!

Have you already installed the monitor driver? Have you looked at the NVIDIA control panel to see if there’s a refresh rate limit?

The internal HDMI connection likely passes through the built-in graphics card, which explains why the display can only reach 120Hz on that laptop model.

You can try using the Thunderbolt 4 adapter with another GPU by connecting it directly, ensuring compatibility and proper power delivery. It should support 1080p at 144Hz if the hardware allows.

If you have one, try it on a different cable first. Just in case MSI attempted something foolish.
