I just moved my desktop to a smaller case with a new motherboard. Now it freezes every time I shut it down during post checks—DRAM and CPU LEDs flash, fans spin loudly, but no output appears. If I cut power for a few seconds then restart, it boots fine. The old board worked without problems. I reinserted RAM, resocketed the CPU, and even updated the BIOS to the latest stable version, but nothing changed. There’s no sign of a faulty board. Could this be a hardware issue or something else? No, the same does not occur when the case power button is disconnected.

Consider verifying or swapping the CMOS battery. A faulty one might produce comparable issues.

I understand this can be frustrating. The best approach seems to be taking the computer out of the case and trying to start it without it. If that works, the issue was likely with the case. When reinstalling, pay close attention to cables, spacers, and ground connections. If it still doesn’t boot normally, there might be another problem—perhaps a damaged component from handling the parts. Good luck!

It seems the PC would start up properly after reboots or shutdowns if the system booted before any RGB software was active. I turned off OpenRGB in Windows boot settings and it resolved the problem. SignalRGB also works without issues now. This is quite unusual. I’m not sure how OpenRGB could lead to such a failure. After investigating, I discovered a Reddit thread where many users reported the same issue. It appears OpenRGB might be interfering with RAM operations, preventing the post from succeeding.
