(Browser was freaking out, here is the actual message, whoops) Hi, new here, About 2 years ago I bought a P8Z77M-PRO that I didn't know was a bit faulty (my mistake) The motherboard boots fine from cold, provided you don't have the cmos battery, and as a result, I cannot change the settings and have them saved across reboots. Booting from cold, I can boot into an OS etc and everything is fine, but to boot it after I shut it down, I need to turn it off from the wall, wait until all the charge has left, and then turn it on again, it works. After I boot it, before the POST screen I have to press F1 to reset bios, which takes me to the uefi screen, there I select my os etc. However, I can't turn on some settings, like virualisation, which cause the computer to shut down, so I have to turn it off from the wall again. I was fine with this, until I wanted to create VMs, and im suspecting a corrupted bios/uefi chip? I tried reflashing the bios, but the computer shuts down without rebooting to bios again, but the bios was updated? I also tried flashing it through the dedicated usb port, I still have the same problems. The previous owner had the same issues too, so I ruled out cpu + psu etc Any help will be much appriciated!
It seems the same problem persists with an older B85M board. It only boots cold after the CMOS is cleared, then becomes stuck afterward. It’s possible there’s a flaw in that Intel model, though I haven’t been able to pinpoint the exact cause. If you have any insights from others, it would be helpful to know.
