The agreement supports 10Gbps…the modem comes from the ISP, it's an exclusive model EB810v BE22000…the software is from TP-Link…I’m not sure about their gateway restrictions but they should be able to process a 10Gbps speed test if they offer them…perhaps they cap it at 8 because most users don’t actually run speed tests until performance issues arise. xD
The 10 gig connection will mainly depend on you and your ISP. Once your data leaves their network, there are almost no assurances. To be truthful, there are also no assurances about your own ISP's network.
Usually, when an ISP offers 10Gbit, it serves up to 64 customers on the same fiber segment using tech like XGS-PON. It's typical for real-world speeds to hover around 8Gbit because of overheads. On XGS-PON, 10Gbit Ethernet usually caps at about 9.4Gbit actual data, unless you experiment with jumbo frames.
