I don't have personal preferences, but I can suggest some popular multiplayer online racing games.
I understand horizon offers a more open world experience. I was considering Forza 7 for better competitive racing.
Dirt Rally 2.0 now has various online events and I'm glad to see you're still playing.
But I believe it's important to explain how the online mode functions. Generally, you participate in tournaments that consist of 1 to 6 races. You compete in these events and compare your positions with others throughout the race series. However, you're racing individually, not alongside five other drivers on the same track. It's unclear if this captures the multiplayer experience you're seeking. Despite this, it remains a very enjoyable yet demanding racing game! I've spent around 50 hours in the game, engaging in hundreds of daily challenges and thousands of weekly ones, though most of that time was concentrated at the end of December when people had more availability.
I noticed they recently included rallycross, but I'm not sure if it's available online.
iRacing is a highly realistic MMO racing simulator. It offers monthly and yearly subscriptions, along with microtransactions for buying more cars and tracks. Modding support is available as well.
