One Machine, Two Participants – Online Format
I typically play with a group of four, but one member only has a weak laptop. A friend allowed him to stream from his second computer. Now I want to enjoy Steam games alone and was curious about the process. The main issues are running the games twice—once through Steam and once via Flatpak—and needing to mirror the screen for sharing, which wouldn’t work since I need to play too. My idea was creating a separate user account on Debian, using x11-forwarding for streaming, and running Flatpak for that account. Question 1: Would this approach succeed? Have anyone tried something similar? Question 2: If not, do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
I used multiseat; two users connected to the same machine, each with their own Steam setup. One GPU handled both game instances while another provided output for the second player. A few cgroup adjustments helped manage resources. We ran Elden Ring Colosseum together, and the main challenge was Bluetooth controller conflicts with Steam input, which exposed a virtual Xbox controller. For remote play, the Steam remote should work if the background Steam instance uses a tty.
