Even though I never been a big follower of the modern Abstergo saga, I really enjoyed the original series and was impressed by AC2. Brotherhood stands out as the first game I remember getting really excited about after seeing that impressive E3 trailer featuring Ezio and his Assassins. However, when Revelations arrived, I felt like I’d seen it all before, and AC3 seemed incomplete to me. By then, I stopped following the series after Black Flag, which I thought might have been a fun Pirates-themed action RPG—until the weak "Assassins vs Templar" story left me feeling disconnected. Odyssey also didn’t win my heart; it made me feel like the game was trying too hard to be challenging without being fair.
I found the experience frustrating because it often felt like you were stuck in a tough section just to progress, with levels that seemed unfairly difficult and grindy. As someone who’s used Dark Souls and Bloodborne, I know what it takes to enjoy a game, but this one crossed the line into being more about meeting sales targets than genuine design.
Ubisoft’s approach—making a high-priced title feel like a grind for loot boxes—was particularly disappointing. The base price was steep, and adding Denuvo made it even harder to play without paying extra. I don’t condone cheating, but I also don’t want to ruin someone else’s experience if I’m not willing to accept the rules.
So, should I just buy it and move on? I really want to enjoy the game, but I need to consider what’s being pushed at me. Do you think I’m overreacting?
Focus on smaller missions to maintain your progress. The content isn't overly repetitive, and you're not stuck in endless grinding. It seems there are minimal rewards beyond regular purchases.
