On two computers running identical OS versions
On two computers running identical OS versions
Hello, I understand this might not fit the right category, but it seems like the best option here. I’m planning to start my job search soon and will spend my first few months improving my tech setup. I intend to buy a Razer Blade, an HTC Vive, maybe a Dell XPS 13 2 in 1, and some other less critical gadgets. The main issue is that I dislike having multiple storage locations for my files and want everything organized in one place. I’ve been thinking about a way to solve this. My idea is to wipe both computers clean of their operating systems, use an external drive like the Akitio Thunder3 PCi-E SSD 1.2TB, store the OS or its image on that drive, and then switch between computers by updating the image. The aim of this post is to get advice on how others might approach this. I’d really appreciate your feedback, but I’m not planning to run two different Windows installations or spending money unless it’s necessary for the setup. My goal is to have two computers that share the same OS and can be used anywhere without constant connections or external drives.
I don't get why two computers are necessary. Wouldn't it work with just one screen? My desk has a setup with mouse and keyboard, plus another near my bed that only needs a mouse. All files are connected to the same machine, so you can save money by using just one PC. If you need extra cables... those are probably cheaper than buying another one.
Sure thing! The simplest way would be to set up a main host and connect all your other laptops to it remotely. You might face some delay and require a stable internet connection, but it’s significantly more affordable than other options you could consider. I’d love to check out how that works.
You likely need a desktop running Windows 10 Pro. This allows remote access via Remote Desktop for work from your laptop while keeping control on the PC. However, try playing directly on the computer since lag might be an issue.
Two computers would help extend battery life during non-gaming tasks. The Dell XPS 2 in 1 offers a lighter design ideal for on-the-go content use.
