Hello, your setup sounds quite advanced for a new PC. The unusual memory usage you're experiencing is not uncommon, especially with high-end components like the 4070Ti and Ryzen 5 7600X. The fact that your RAM is using a large constant amount while the GPU operates at lower utilization suggests there might be some inefficiencies or misconfigurations. It’s possible that the CPU and GPU are not communicating optimally, which could be a bottleneck. Double-check your BIOS settings, ensure all components are properly connected, and consider running a memory diagnostic to rule out hardware issues.

It seems your graphics card is reaching its memory capacity.

It seems the GPU is hitting its capacity? A colleague suggested a possible BUS constraint, but I couldn't verify that online. If it's merely the GPU reaching its limit, that makes sense.

The RTX 4070 Ti features a 192-bit memory bus, which is relatively modest when compared to cards from the prior generation offering similar performance. For instance, the RTX 3090 matches its power but boasts a 384-bit bus. While a narrower memory bus can negatively impact performance, it rarely acts as a major bottleneck unless it leads to VRAM saturation. This often results in assets spilling into system memory, creating a noticeable slowdown. Many people are frustrated with Nvidia for not increasing VRAM capacity on their cards.

Reduce the graphics intensity or use a lower resolution setting. When you reach the VRAM limit, the system often moves extra data to RAM, which is much slower and leads to lower frames per second and stuttering.

Game design restricts full parallel execution due to interactive nature, limiting effective use of six cores—often just four. It operates on threads for three cores at maximum speed, consuming about ten percent system resources. CPU performance falls short for fast rendering, especially with path tracing, and GPU workloads increase further. The main constraint is minimal, and adjusting GPU settings isn't possible once maxed out.

I struggle to accept that 4070Ti isn't fully utilized on a brand new Zen4 platform. While the memory bus in my older 3090 was broader, my previous 5800x system—which ran slower than 7600x—never faced problems reaching 4K path tracing. I'd require much more extensive testing across a diverse game library to draw any reliable conclusions.

Some users mentioned a VRAM constraint. I attempted it with Baldur's Gate 3, which requires less RAM and consumed about 95% of the GPU and 90% of the CPU.
