I was checking the AMD site and saw that this CPU is advertised as quad-core with 4 cores and 4 threads. However, the product description mentions only 2 physical cores and 4 logical cores. It seems there might be a discrepancy between the marketing info and the actual specifications.

The lawsuit targeted specific FX CPUs, but does it matter if they have two or four floating point units? The results you observe in benchmarks will reflect that. Review them and choose accordingly. Personally, I recommend checking second-hand sites for Ryzen 3/5 first-generation deals, since you'll get a better upgrade route.

FX and the like. 2 modules, 2 core per module Its 4 physical cores that share resources. But this is a 5 year old discussion. AMD lost the lawsuit.

Socket FM1 / FM2 with FX-series CPUs on AM3+ employs a module layout. The four processing units consist of two pairs of modules, each sharing certain CPU components. This arrangement means they don’t match the standard "full core" setup. In conventional designs, every core contains its own floating-point unit. These processors feature a shared floating-point pool among the two cores in each module. According to AMD’s diagram, an integer scheduler works alongside a single floating-point scheduler. In your case, the Athlon 750K will have only two floating-point cores rather than four, which can cause software to behave like Intel’s Hyperthreading—resulting in two physical cores and four logical ones.

You received exactly what you agreed for—no hidden tricks. The issue lies in the absence of a clear "core" definition for the free offer.
