I don't recall the exact title of the game. It was a space-themed shooter where you targeted various aliens. It felt similar to Galaga but wasn't quite the same. You controlled a ship, gathered copper coins and grey question mark boxes that provided power-ups. I also remember a red bullet with a green ring and a pink alien blob that broke into four pieces, chasing you until you eliminated them. I played it in the mid to early 90s while visiting the library. It wasn't a side-scroller game.

We need to clarify a bit more. Are we referring to Windows 3.1 or Windows 95? DOS? Mac OS? Or perhaps a browser game? (I think it would be too soon for a browser game, those kinds of games emerged around the turn of the millennium)

When you mention something like Galaga, can you move more than just left and right?

There are countless copies of Galaga, so if it’s one of them, finding it will be quite challenging.

I think it might have been Windows 3.1, but it could also have been Windows 95. Because when I search for its appearance, they resemble Windows 3.1.
You could navigate around. It wasn't a browser game. It was already installed on the computer in the library and you could play it by clicking on it. On another machine it had the 1989 The Prince of Persia.

It wasn't. However, I did play that game on the Game Boy.

It seems to be about Yar's Revenge
Here are some games similar to Galaga
Galaga-like Titles - Giant Bomb
Galaga is a vertical shooter arcade title from 1981. Made by Namco and released by Namco and Midway.

It seems you're describing a game that was once available on TV-game consoles with cartridges, and you enjoyed playing similar titles when you had access to those systems. The mention of finding a match for a decryption method on specific cartridges or cassettes highlights the nostalgic connection between different gaming formats.

Swarm from 1998 is a bit newer, yet it includes some of the topics we discussed.
No results found for coins at the moment.
