I installed Windows 10 and replaced my Western Digital HDD with a green SSD that holds all my movies and videos. Everything seems fine. The issue arises when I attempt to modify the icon or thumbnail for any folder—it doesn’t update and remains stuck on the default icons. This only happens with that specific drive, while changing icons for other folders on my SSD works correctly.

Permissions could be confusing...or maybe corrupted filesystem issues. Try relocating files to different folders and creating new ones—it might resolve the issue.

the issue isn't linked to the drive or my computer. even after installing a brand new hdd, cleaning it, reinstalling windows, and reinserting the drive, you won't be able to alter the folder icons unless you clear the icons cache each time you change a folder and restart. if i create a new folder on that drive, the problem disappears. also, moving large collections of movies and videos (50 to 80 gb) is challenging because they take up significant space.

as long as you don't transfer it to another storage device...rearranging files on the same drive usually happens in a few seconds
