Hi,
I’m using Windows 11 Pro and experiencing issues with the Video Playback section in Windows Settings. When playing the demo video shown at the top of a guy with a skateboard near the sea, the playback isn’t smooth. This problem also occurs with offline video files, though YouTube online streams work correctly. My Nvidia 3060 Ti runs fine as well.

I ran the Windows Troubleshooter and the results showed:
- Video driver version check completed
- No current graphics driver issues detected
- Generic failure check completed
- Graphics driver error reported
- HEVC Codec status checked
- HEVC Codec not installed
- HWDRM status verified
- Can't Play 4K videos reported
- Display using low resolution confirmed
- Driver installation confirmed
- Protected audio checked
- Unsigned driver found
- Diagnostic scan finished

Please let me know how to resolve this.
Thank you,
B

Is there any reported problem with the standard Windows media player, and do you have the older version available?

did you attempt another player recently? mpc mediaplayer classic is an older yet improved version of previous windows editions. it supports smooth playback without requiring codecs, much like vlc player. besides, ensure all drivers, amd chipset, and nvidia driver are updated, and modify the motherboard's bios.

Hello yes, you already have this classic version available on your system named Windows Media Player Legacy.

Hi there, I'm here to assist you. I attempted to play a video file but encountered an issue and ended up visiting the Microsoft Store to buy the HEVC Video Extensions App for 79p or less. What's the most suitable free option to make it work? Thanks.
