Official announcement of the CAPCOM "Remake" of DiscussionResident Evil 4 in March 2023.
Capcom has officially confirmed the release of Resident Evil 4 Remake at Sony’s State of Play in June 2022. To mark the occasion, they also unveiled the game’s initial trailer, which includes both in-game scenes and brief gameplay clips. The remake will be built using the RE Engine. Capcom intends to launch Resident Evil 4 Remake on March 24th, 2023. This announcement has been circulating for years, finally being revealed during the PlayStation event.
The Resident Evil series is recognized for its ability to shift between action-driven and horror-focused narratives. Resident Evil 4, in particular, leans heavily into action elements and is widely regarded as a prime example of that style. The title received considerable acclaim from both audiences and critics, establishing it as one of the standout horror titles and a top contender in the genre.
Regarding specifics, Capcom has kept details about the remake minimal. However, it is understood they will adjust gameplay and storytelling elements to create a more polished experience. They aim to refresh the experience while preserving the core essence of the original.
Capcom has stated that the remake will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms. While it remains uncertain how much of the original plot will be altered, earlier speculation suggested a darker direction for the narrative.
In a related blog entry on PlayStation, Capcom clarified that the new version would feel both familiar to fans and refreshingly different. They emphasized reworking the storyline, updating graphics, and modernizing controls to match current standards.
Capcom has confirmed the remake will support PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S consoles. The extent of changes to the original story remains unclear, but past hints indicated a more somber tone for the updated version.
Not surprised to see this, as it has been a long time since speculation about when this would happen. It seemed more like a teaser than a trailer, especially given the amount of load screen and end screen content. I have to say though, the Spanish music in the intro was a nice addition.
Talking about RE games, I recently discovered some details about the difficulty of RE8/RE: VILLAGE. You should definitely keep this in mind, especially since you’ve already completed the full game. I had to stop midway because it became too difficult and confusing to solve the puzzles. After Hardcore Mode, the Village of SHADOWS now offers a Shadow difficulty setting. I wasn’t familiar with this, and I’m curious how many RE players have tackled this level after finishing the game once. It appears quite demanding, aimed only at hardcore gamers. The enemies have become significantly tougher, faster, and more intelligent. Everything about the game has changed. Checkpoints are spaced further apart, fewer in between, late-game enemies appear earlier, bosses now have much higher health, and enemies pop up in larger numbers. It’s a real test recommended for those who have conquered the game before.
Yeah Village of Shadows includes adding minion enemies during boss battles, such as those involving Lady D's daughters. Facing tight spaces with all that can be challenging, you need to act fast. The most tough part for me on VoS is the boss encounter with Moreau's swamp monster after draining the swamp. I've seen several guides for it, and it usually takes around 40 minutes or longer to complete. This is the reason I'm questioning whether I should even try playing the game at that difficulty, let alone watch a walkthrough. Plus, the chance of running out of ammo during that fight is real, and if you lose, it could be a long battle to recover from.
I really had to watch a video to confirm I was right. That player outperformed Moreau in roughly 13 and a half minutes on Village of Shadows, without any infinite ammo benefits or NG+ perks. He used an exploit to corner the monster in a location I've seen before, but I haven't applied it this way yet. Maybe I'll try it eventually.
The interesting discovery is highlighted in the video, demonstrating just how challenging this boss battle truly is, especially when played on that particular difficulty setting. Regarding the "Cheese Method," it appears to refer to a specific RE gameplay strategy being discussed.
LOL, this isn't about RE specifically. To "cheese" an enemy in a game simply means taking advantage of small flaws in the game's code. In this situation, the issue lies with the monster's habit of getting stuck in corners with roof supports.
The Varcolac near the watermill can be easily cheesed by guiding it onto the roof of a nearby house, then using the chimney near the edge as an obstacle while you shoot it in the head with a pistol.
However, cheeses aren't completely safe. As shown, the Moreau beast eventually breaks free, and I also managed to trap the Varcolac around the chimney on the opposite side after thinking it was locked in.
LOL. Actually, I didn’t intend to refer only to RE, but used it as a general term in gameplay. I didn’t phrase it correctly.
In reality, I wasn’t fully familiar with this word before, especially in gaming, since I’m just a casual player. But now I see it’s not limited to RE and applies to broader game situations, which makes sense.
I’ve come to better understand what “cheese” means. It can also refer to taking advantage of any glitch or flaw in the game design or code, besides using a specific strategy or tactics during a boss fight.
A “cheese” approach aims to overcome challenges without directly engaging with them, often by bypassing the game’s mechanics. It exploits oversights in balance that developers made to make obstacles easier to handle.
Some people call it “fast cheese” and others “slow cheese,” but both describe similar tactics.
A fresh gameplay has just been released. Check it out below.
