Office 365 question
Office 365 question
Do you know what occurs when a PC fails to shut down correctly and some Word or PowerPoint files remain open? Will the recovered documents appear automatically when you restart the PC, or do I have to recall which files I was working on before it shut down and click them, after which the system will prompt me to recover them? What about opening the default Word program instead of a specific file—does it inform me about the open documents and ask if I want to recover them?
When you open Word, it looks for AutoRecover files and will ask if it detects anything. If not, you should go to File > Info > Manage Document > Recover Unsaved Documents.
If you're accessing the online version through SharePoint/Teams or storing files on OneDrive, they'll already be saved. Secret Squirrel is accurate for the desktop app—it provides a list of recovered files through the auto-save feature. Unless that setting is turned off.
