So, I understand it's quite unusual to grumble about a comfortable temperature, but today I altered the thermal paste for the third time in the life of my laptop. Remember when it was brand new and fresh out of the box, the temperature was near 92° C? The first time I changed it, it was still around that level. But now, after the second change, it's about 70-80° for both the CPU and GPU. What changed this time? I used the same thermal paste, a grizzly aeronaut in both instances.

Maybe something I should consider doing next is changing the thermal pastes, but so far they seem to be in good condition.

The other strange thing is that the laptop's cooling system is starting to wear out, especially the plastic holding the screws. Honestly, I'm not sure if it's related to the fact I traveled a lot during my two years of college. Between taking care of my laptop from point B to point A, the heat from the plastic... Or is the quality of the plastic from Gigabyte really poor? What do you think?

when new paste is applied, it can rise temporarily until it expands and fills any gaps between the IHS and the cooler plate. the laptop was only tested and then pasted and packaged. at that time, the paste would have needed to settle. probably you used the laptop within a day before repasting, which likely helped it settle faster. it might also be that you covered the GPU and CPU better than before.
