I’m starting with a Dell OptiPlex 3020 running Windows 10. I’ve made several changes to the setup. My system includes an 8pin to 24pin adapter for a 650W EVGA PSU, an Intel i7-4790 processor, 16GB DDR3 RAM at 1600MHz, two SATA SSDs, and a 1080TI graphics card. The problem I’m facing is that when I launch Steam, play games, watch YouTube, or use any streaming site, my screen goes black briefly and then restarts. It looks like brightness increased, contrast changed, and resolution drops slightly, though the settings remain unchanged. I’ve taken screenshots but they don’t capture the issue clearly. Restarting the PC or adjusting settings in NVIDIA Control Panel helps temporarily, but it still happens. This has been ongoing since I first got the PC—using an i3 CPU and RTX 750, but it’s getting worse over time. I’ve uninstalled drivers, reinstalled them, tried different cables, re-seated RAM, and even reinstalled Windows multiple times. Any advice or suggestions would be extremely useful. I’m really struggling and have been dealing with this for almost a year.

Here it is again, but my setup stays the same. Mine began after a Windows update!!! I’m not sure if it started about two months ago either!!! My PC is just eight months old. It’s the same with Windows 7 Pro!!! Now I have Windows 11. It only causes temporary blackouts when I maximize the screen with moving graphics, or switching to another HDMI channel makes the screen go dark for up to 30 seconds. It feels like the TV and monitor aren’t responding properly! Hopefully someone finds out what’s happening soon! Good luck!

The problem began following a Windows update. It's been two months; let's check if a newer version can fix it.

He started fixing it after I got the PC around October 2022. I've applied multiple updates since then, but the most recent one appears to have worsened the problem.

It might be a motherboard, GPU, or monitor. Could you share another monitor for testing?

I've tried it with two monitors and three different GPUs after getting the PC. The motherboard seems to be a possible issue because I'm still using the original OptiPlex board with an adapter.

Right away I set my TV to 60 fps/gaming mode! It now maintains 60 fps unless I switch Edge. The stuttering has disappeared completely. If you're using a gaming PC, matching your settings to around 60-280 MHz should give you smooth frames; otherwise, expect black or white gaps. On another setup it worked instantly—no more opening Edge!

Corrected the fix; hardware acceleration resolved the problem and immediately stopped it from turning off

This wasn't the main problem—it appears temporary. I'm developing ways to consistently recreate this issue. Other users suggest it might relate to my Dell motherboard. I'm awaiting the B550+ board and an AMD 5800X3D chipset to confirm if the problems continue. I'll keep you informed and document everything relevant.
