OCCT issues when using XMP profile at 3600MHz CL16
Hey there, friends. I'm running into problems with my 32GB memory setup (two 16GB sticks) trying to hit the XMP Profile1. The MSI Z370-A Pro didn't even recognize it initially, so I went manual. After some tweaks in Windows and running tests, I hit errors during OCCT memory checks and in TM5 with Extreme1 using the Anthella777 settings. Even after getting a replacement RAM, the issues persist.
Now I'm moving to a Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro Wi-Fi board, which does support XMP profiles, but I still face errors when running OCCT tests. I'm not sure what else to check—my CPU is an Intel i9 9900K, and auto overclocking was tried once at around 1.395V with some vdroop, but it wasn't stable long enough. The motherboard supports XMP, yet testing keeps failing.
I've attached screenshots and links to my previous attempts, plus the BIOS video I recorded. Here are the configurations I've tried so far:
- CPU: Intel i9 9900K
- Motherboard: MSI Z370-A Pro
- RAM: G.SKILL RIPJAWS 32GB 3600MHZ CL16-19-19 F4-3600C16D-32GVKC (dual channel)
- GPU: EVGA 3080 XC3
- PSU: Corsair RM850 850W

It might be the memory controller on your CPU struggling to handle high transfer speeds or precise timing requirements. I don't have exact references, but I've heard that 9th and 10th generation Intel processors often face challenges with RAM over 3200 Mbit/s and CL16 configurations. The 11th generation is still being evaluated in this area.
I've tested various voltages but encountered issues. Neither of the motherboards shows DRAM temperatures, making it hard to determine if overheating is the cause.
I don't have a CPU cooler, but I can help you check your CPU temperatures if you share the data. How are they performing?
Noctua D15S runs at about 60°C under memory stress. Reaches 75°C during CPU workloads in OCCT and recent Cinebench multithread tests.
I changed the CPU to the 9900KF but keep facing memory issues at 3600MHz with XMP settings. I plan to try TM5 using the recommended profile from that GitHub page to check if the issue is software-related.
