System details clearly stated. Running Windows 10 Home, genuine copy. Direct to the issue. Occasionally I experience a slow boot in Windows. Usually my PC starts normally but loading takes much longer—sometimes ten times. Once inside Windows everything feels sluggish; opening Chrome might take about 20 seconds. Task Manager shows CPU speeds are extremely low. Overall it feels like operating a system from around 1995. A simple reboot often fixes the problem. Any suggestions on what could be causing this? I've only noticed this a few times over the past four years, especially with AM4 boards, and dismissed it as a coincidence. With AM5 I see this slowdown a couple of times a week.
You should verify your CPU temperatures. It might be throttling. Checking HWInfo could help.
Power on the system running a live Linux distribution. If the problem resolves, the issue likely resides in Windows.
I’d also consider Windows as a potential culprit. I reinstalled it to investigate, but the issue persists. Storage seems unlikely since all tests pass. CPU performance is solid most of the time—temperatures, stress tests, and benchmarks are all within normal ranges. It’s confusing to figure out what’s causing this.
