Occasionally cuts off Ethernet link unpredictably
Hey, I checked the forum again and I'm still facing the same problem. My Ethernet drops unexpectedly on Windows. When it happens, the connection icon turns into a red X and it takes a few seconds to reconnect—usually around 20 seconds. It doesn’t happen every minute, but roughly every 1–2 hours. To be honest, my 25-meter Cat7 cable should work fine, though I’m okay with occasional random drops. I also have a slow internet connection (about 356kb/s) with 29–35ms latency, and the issue started after I connected directly to the router via cable. I use an Asus Z270 Prime A motherboard and a Fritzbox 7360 router, which seems to be common in Germany. Anyone know why this is happening or how to fix it?
When directly linked to the router, the response time for a ping to the default gateway is typically very low, often just a few milliseconds.
This appears to be an ISP router. It might be worth contacting them for a replacement. Check the PC first and test it elsewhere—like at a friend’s or family member’s house—to see if the problem persists. If it doesn’t, definitely ask for a new router. You mentioned a similar issue with a Sky router in the UK that stopped working after a few hours.
It's going to be tough at home. I'll attempt it when I can. Appreciate the support so far.
