I need to share some details about my setup and what’s been happening. My system runs an AMD Ryzen 7 5800x with eight cores, paired with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. The motherboard is a Gigabyte x570 Aorus Elite, and I have 32GB of VENGEANCE RGB PRO RAM. My power supply is an EVGA GOLD 650W unit—though I don’t recall the exact model.
I’ve been dealing with a recurring stuttering problem mainly in Fortnite, though it shows up in other games too. In Fortnite, frame rates drop sharply from around 300 to as low as 20–80 and then jump back quickly. The issue isn’t as bad in other titles but still occurs occasionally.
I’ve tried updating drivers, changing RAM XMP settings, adjusting BIOS options like NVIDIA resizable BAR, and even swapping the motherboard for better compatibility. I’ve also capped FPS with RTSS and overclocked the CPU to see if that helps. Despite these efforts, the stutters persist.
I’ve gone through many troubleshooting steps online, but nothing seems to fix it. The frustration is growing, especially since I’ve upgraded several components without improvement. I’m hoping for some advice or solutions to get back to smooth gameplay, particularly in Fortnite. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
It mainly concerns Fortnite. There’s nothing you can do to fix it. Such games often experience significant performance drops even on top hardware, which is why many players skip testing them due to the wide range of system differences. You’ll need to tweak in-game settings to reduce the impact. For a clearer picture, check 3D Mark or other benchmarks to determine if the problem lies with your computer specs or the game engine itself.
I agree with the idea of Fortnite, the experience changes between games, and I rarely have a seamless round.
Usually the difference lies in your preferences versus theirs. They usually stick to the basics, which makes things run much more smoothly.
I checked all configurations—high, medium, low, and extra low—and used the Nvidia profile inspector. Still experienced stutters, so it doesn’t seem to be an in-game setting issue.
