Hello everyone, I’m dealing with a system that’s been running for over two years on an Asrock Fatal1ty Gaming K6 Z370 board. My rig occasionally shuts down unexpectedly, even during light tasks like web browsing. When I power it back up, it enters a boot loop where the PC won’t start properly and the fans stop working. After about ten seconds it restarts itself. This also happens when I put the machine to sleep or try a cold boot. I’ve disabled all overclocks, removed my 5700 XT card, and now only use integrated graphics to rule out those components as causes. The fix is unpredictable—sometimes I have to reseat RAM, adjust CMOS jumpers, or even skip the CMOS battery entirely. Once it boots again, I can keep it running for hours or weeks, despite frequent sleep cycles and shutdowns. It’s frustrating because of the inconsistent behavior and how it interrupts my workflow. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. As a backup, I have a brand new Z390 ITX board planned for a future build, but I’d prefer not to use it right now.

Sure, I can share those details. The PSU is [insert value] and the motherboard is [insert age]. I haven’t tried updating the BIOS yet.

In fact, I believe the problem lies with the RAM connections. Pressing and holding the RAM while powering on the computer resolved the issue completely. Minor vibrations inside or outside can slightly disrupt the connection, similar to pulling RAM out of a running machine. Would there be a way to secure the RAM slots more firmly? Since you plan to work horizontally, gravity should help keep the RAM stable.

This seems unusual. Are there other methods to tighten the slot for RAM? It's a simple issue, but I'm not sure what you mean by "tighter." When you install the RAM, make sure the tabs are securely locked.
