I'm using an ASUS TUF Gaming A17 FA707. After my onboard Wi-Fi card stopped working, I switched to a USB adapter (TP-Link WN823N v3.0). Initially everything worked well with acceptable internet speeds while gaming. However, over time the connection began to weaken. During a ping test to 1.1.1.1, I recorded times of 4ms and 1000ms. Further checks showed that after turning Wi-Fi on after powering up, the ping remained between 4-10ms. But when using the internet for tasks or closing apps completely, the ping fluctuated widely from 4 to 1000ms. The most puzzling occurrence was that the ping stayed steady at around 4-10ms even after sleeping or powering off the machine. I also tested a M1 Pro MacBook Pro nearby; its ping stayed between 4 and 15ms. This suggests my access point is likely fine. To try to resolve this, I followed several YouTube guides and Chat-GPT suggestions, testing basic commands like netsh, ipconfig, and driver reinstalls. I've tried all the steps listed but still can't pinpoint the cause or find a fix. Feel free to ask more questions if you think I missed anything.

This adapter works just fine for me, similar to what I've used before. It handles multiple connections smoothly without issues. Purchased it for a low price and it performed well.

The concern is focused on the Wi-Fi network rather than your computer. Whether there’s constant disruption from nearby signals or faulty hardware on either side, the main issue likely lies with the router setup or channel selection. Changing the channels might resolve the problem. The real challenge probably isn’t on your PC.

Thanks for the update. The unusual behavior seems to appear unexpectedly, and there were no interruptions. It feels like an issue might be with my Windows instead of the adapter. I’m still wondering why this happens occasionally—it can work well most of the time but sometimes it drops completely.

I checked for issues with my router and confirmed everything functions well at the same spot. Could there really be different interference sources at that exact place? For your info, the router model is ZTE zxhn f670l. I’m downstairs while the router is upstairs, separated by a floor slab. The adapter performed okay initially but became unreliable after a few days. I want to verify if the USB adapter might now be faulty.
