Recently my ping keeps jumping to 250 while playing games. I’m not sure what’s causing it. Sometimes the PC reports a connection even though it’s actually fine, and other devices work perfectly. Even after checking the internet speed and replacing the router and Ethernet cable, the issue persists. It only happens occasionally, which bothers me. I’m planning to play Valorant but risk getting banned or stuck with a poor connection. I’ve tried everything but don’t know what’s wrong or how to fix it. My PC’s specs are Windows 10, GPU GeForce GTX 1080, CPU I9-9900K, and it uses an EVGA 800W Gold MoBo power supply. Any advice would be really helpful. Thank you!

Avoid using IPv6 unless necessary. It may cause issues with ISP routers in the UK.

I gave it a shot, but things didn’t improve much. It performed well before recently, but over the past year of playing games on my current setup, it started acting up. Now it consistently shows 250-300 ping and sometimes the connection drops entirely even though it’s connected. I’ve reset the internet, cleared the DNS, and replaced the Ethernet cable, thinking those fixes would help. Still, I’m struggling to pinpoint the exact cause.

Checking for third-party security tools and measuring network speed between devices. Confirming if in-game connectivity issues exist and whether internet traffic functions beyond the game.

No, I'm not currently using any 3rd party software. I've never personally used iperf, so I'm not quite sure how it works, but I could definitely see if I could do something with it if that would help. The no connection message is the one from google or any site when I try to use the browser when it isn't working, but my PC will still say it is connected. That's not just the game, nothing that requires internet will work, and it usually stays like that for a while. Today it has been working, but as for gaming I've had 300+ ping all day, and it isn't my wifi. (I generally get around 40 ping, slightly higher depending if I'm on central or west servers)
