OC works on desktop, not in games
I've been searching for this problem for a while and haven't found anyone else dealing with it.
My overclock seems to work well on the desktop—like I set my 8700k to 4.8ghz, and everything functioned properly.
When I play any game, my CPU caps at 4.3ghz, and I'm not sure what's causing that limitation.
It might be something simple nearby but I'm stuck.

I used 4.8ghz on my 8700k.
How was it done?
Was it via motherboard auto-overclocking?
If so, you might think you're doing the overclock yourself, but in reality the motherboard handles it, and you really don’t have control.
I suspect it wasn’t manual BIOS overclocking, otherwise there would be more details about your settings.

I applied 4.8ghz to my 8700k
Applied How?
Motherboard Auto Overclocking?
(if that's the case you think you are OCing but you're just along for the ride, you really have no control, the motherboard does.)
I am guessing not manual BIOS overclocking or else there would be a lot more information to supply regarding how your settings are configured.
I applied it through BIOS, I also tried software with no avail.
I've also tried OC defaults in BIOS for 5Ghz, 4.8, 4.7 etc and they all do the same as well.
