I will have a Ryzen 5 3600 in a few days and it will be my first time overclocking, but I have watched a few vids and got a gist of it, but I have several questions. 1. Should an overclock of 4GHz be fatal to the cpu in daily use? 2. Temps. When I overclock is there some way to undervolt cause I would like to keep the temps around 60c?

Overclocking the CPU by undervolting is like asking a car to go faster while reducing the fuel flow per second or cycle.

If you keep using your CPU nonstop, it will wear out more quickly. This also varies by conditions. My friend used an i2 2500k running at 1.375V and 4.6GHz for eight years without issues. With higher voltage, the lifespan drops significantly—some say five years or less, others think up to fifteen. The exact impact is unclear. I’m testing my 3700x at 1.4125V and 4.5GHz for a year now. I plan an upgrade soon, so as long as the cooling system can handle higher voltages and I get the necessary upgrades, I don’t see any major problems.

In OC you can adjust settings without boosting voltage, but once you exceed around 0.2 it may trigger a shutdown since voltage isn't sufficient. It's best to raise changes gradually and keep it below 1.3V.

Maybe so. Voltage opinions vary because measuring degradation isn't straightforward. Some suggest 1.3V, others 1.4V. I'm leaning toward the middle.
