OC RAM for Ryzen 3600
OC RAM for Ryzen 3600
Hi guys!
I’m planning to purchase the following items:
AMD ryzen 5 3600
MSI b450 Tomahawk max
Many tests and reviews mentioned that 3600c16 RAM is ideal. Since 3600c16 and RAM are quite expensive in my area, I was considering buying 3200c16 RAM and upgrading it to 3600c16. Or should I go for 3600c18 (almost the same price as 3200c16) and set the timings to 3600c16?
I’m also looking at Corsair Vengeance LX 3200c16 (if that helps, as I read the heatsink makes a big difference).
And lastly: is there a difference in OC capability between 16GB and 32GB RAM?
Thanks a lot for all your responses ahead!
Just select the 3200mhz CL16 or the 3600mhz CL18 memory and keep it that way. Either option works just fine, and the performance gap won’t be noticeable in most situations. These two frequencies are very similar in terms of actual latency, so unless you're doing specific tests, you won't see a difference in games or apps. Don't waste time overclocking or tweaking timings; extensive stability checks aren't necessary to catch any issues that might affect your system.
Just choose the 3200mhz CL16 or the 3600mhz CL18 memory and keep it that way. Either option works just as well, and the performance gap won’t be noticeable in most situations. The difference between these speeds at their respective frequencies is minimal enough that it won’t matter much for everyday use. Avoid the hassle of overclocking or spending long hours adjusting settings. You’ll still need thorough stability checks to prevent any issues with your system. Just pick one and apply the XMP profile, then continue with your tasks.
