Hello, welcome to the world of overclocking! Your goal is clear—raise your RAM from 2666MHz to 3200MHz. Since your motherboard only supports up to 2666MHz, you’re right to be cautious. Overclocking beyond the supported limit can stress your system and may cause damage. If you’re using a Kingston Fury DDR4 3200MHz module, it’s important to check compatibility first. Generally, pushing RAM beyond its rated speed isn’t recommended unless you’re experienced. Consider testing within safe limits or consulting a professional before proceeding. Your safety is important—take your time and research thoroughly!

CPU and board details? I’m guessing it’s using Coffee Lake on a non-Z board, considering the max is 2666. If it’s really chipset-limited to 2666, you’re stuck—just set the clock to 102.9 and that should work.

You're just starting out with this setup. CPU is an i5 9400F and the motherboard is B360M PRO-VDH.

It's really bad, I understand, but I'm trying to make the most of it while I wait.

B360 boards don’t support RAM overclocking, and older non-K CPUs before the 12th generation aren’t compatible either. This contrasts with AMD, which permits overclocking on most systems except certain A-series models like the A320.

The point is... It really doesn't matter if someone skips XMP or tries to overclock; they can still be okay. What counts more is whether the RAM is in dual-channel mode... if it is, you're fine.
