OC Leads to System Crash Following SSD Upgrade
Hello everyone,
A few days back I installed a new 840 evo drive for my system. Being unfamiliar with SSD upgrades, I was uncertain about the process of moving the operating system and data. I moved the files I wanted to retain from my 1 TB WD blue drive to the 840 evo, then wiped the old HDD using a tool named killdisk. After that, I transferred the data back to the HDD and performed a clean wipe on the SSD with killdisk. I then reinstalled Windows 7 on the SSD and restored the HDD. Everything appears to function properly until I tried overclocking...
I own an FX 8320 on an M5A97 R2.0 motherboard, and I only attempt mild overclocking (4.2 GHz) because I have a 212 evo air cooler. After exiting the BIOS, I can boot into Windows without issues, but the computer freezes and locks up on certain websites and applications. For instance, a simple physics game (ttp://www.qwop.me/qwop/) will freeze me within seconds of clicking play. HWMonitor is open during these incidents, but my temperatures seem normal. My BIOS is up to date, and my drivers are current.
I followed this overclocking guide here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MckeAmnDeTk
This overclocking was stable before the SSD upgrade, and I have no issues when loading my optimized defaults.
Any suggestions on what might be happening here?
Sorry I know this is an 3 year old thread, but did you find a solution? I have this problem aswell
