I've recently faced some stressful situations that have made gaming difficult to enjoy. My main games are Dota 2, CS:GO, and Skyrim, with Dota 2 taking up the most time. (1) The issue is that my screen suddenly turns black, losing all display while audio continues to play. When I press a button or use a hotkey, the sound still comes through, but the screen just becomes blank. This keeps happening even when no other programs are running besides the Steam client, except for basic system tasks. My temperatures aren't reaching critical levels even without an aftermarket cooler, since Dota 2 isn't very demanding on the GPU. I've adjusted graphics settings to low-mid and turned off advanced features, but nothing seems to solve the problem. I've spent hours trying to identify the cause, but so far the only solutions are using launch settings in Dota 2, disabling display scaling on high DPI in the program's compatibility settings, and running the game as an administrator. It still occurs sometimes, even with those adjustments, especially when I don't use those options. (2) With CS:GO, I experience random screen freezes followed by crashes stating "Engine error: failed to lock index buffer in CMeshDX8::LockIndexBuffer." I don't know why this happens or how to fix it. It occurs occasionally, and in some cases I haven't encountered it at all. Skyrim has crashed before, but since I have less than the minimum RAM requirement, it was manageable. However, I found a workaround by playing in a smaller window instead of full screen. These are my current specs (I plan to upgrade soon when I can purchase parts from a reliable shop): Windows 8.1 Pro (64-bit), i5-6500 @3.2 GHz (actually 3.5 due to an Intel boost), Gigabyte H110M-H-CF motherboard, 4GB DDR4 Kingston RAM, Nvidia GeForce 1050Ti, 1TB Western Digital HDD. Thanks in advance!
